The QuickChek New Jersey Balloon Fest is one of the country’s biggest hot air balloon gatherings. This year despite the splendor of the hot air balloons, multi-platinum recording artist Andy Grammer will also be headlining the opening of the festivities.
The festival will commence on July 27th through the 29th at the Solberg Airport located in Readington. There will be a number of mass launches that include up to 100 hot air balloons ascending into the sky. Participants wishing to ride in a hot air balloon will need to purchase a ticket for admission as well as for a balloon ride . Additional activities will include concerts, family inspired entertainment, hundreds of crafters and vendors, great food, fireworks, and a balloon glow! The twice-daily launches will feature certified ballooning pilots and hot air balloons emblazoned with the names of a number of sponsors as well as a variety of uniquely shaped and vibrantly colored hot air balloons. Hot air balloon rides consist of the following: check in and pilot assignment, escort to the launch location, participation in the inflation of the envelope, pilot permitting, and launch!
Flights will last approximately 20 to 45 minutes, weather permitting. After your flight, the crew will stow the balloon and you will then be driven back to the festival grounds in the chase vehicle. The experience from start to fruition may take up to 2 to three hours in its entirety so plan accordingly.
QuickChek New Jersey Balloon Fest coordinators want ride participants to be reminded that if they have concert tickets, the balloon flight may see them back after the start of the concert. Additionally, children under 18 may participate, however, they must be over 42 inches tall.
Tethered balloon rides will be made available, wind and weather permitting. These incredible flights allow for those who may be uncomfortable with heights to experience the sensation of hot air ballooning on a more secure scale. These type rides are also more suitable for children.
Tethered balloons are anchored to three or more stationary objects and ascend to approximately 100 feet in the air. These balloon rides allow for a unique vantage point from which to observe the Solberg Airport, the Hunterdon County countryside, and the entirety of the festival grounds. The rides last roughly 5 minutes and consist or perhaps two or three individuals onboard for each trip.
Live music and concerts will take place on both Friday and Saturday and will feature performances geared toward children as well as adults who enjoy pop music. Including an opportunity for QuickChek New Jersey Balloon Fest goers to see Andy Grammer perform. Grammar will be headlining the concert series and is scheduled to appear following a mass launch on the opening evening of Friday, July 27th. His performance will commence around 8 pm, after the 6:30 pm 100-balloon ascension and followed by a fireworks display at 9:30 pm. Tickets must be purchased online for the concert series separately from admission and are subject to availability, purchase them now.
